New Branding for Papergrass

Boutique branding for Papergrass of Sandy Bay

Smart Signs Hobart recently delivered a complete rebranding of Papergrass, a fashion boutique situated in arguably the best retail position in town, with stunning results.

The well known Sandy Bay fashion icon was certainly in need of a signage makeover. We worked closely with the owners Fran, Juan and Tracy to create a new business image that would reflect the quality of their clothing range.

The task included designing a new logo and repainting the entire shop front, including the commanding fascia. We chose a dark grey with a hint of navy for the background, for a smart and strong feel, and real presence.

The lettering, which is finished in an attractive metallic silver, was especially created for a simple, stylish, strong and modern look. A vibrant autumn-orange flick brings to life and completes the design.

Juan mentioned they were thinking of using the slogan ‘First in, best dressed.’ We suggested simplifying it and going with simply ‘best dressed.’

The new branding was then followed through with high quality business cards and price tags, using thick card stock with a stylish matte and cello glaze finish.

Last week we added to the Papergrass signage with these sale signs, using the same lettering and autumn-orange used in the logo.

The busy intersection sees a lot of passing traffic but in winter peak hour can be dark and gloomy, and we needed a bright solution.

The Smart Signs Hobart team came up with using translucent vinyl on Corflute sign sheets, so the signage could be illuminated by the already existing ambient shop lighting.

The signs are highly visible and look fantastic but the real beauty of this style of sign is that it’s also economical. With a little bit of care, these signs will last for many years.

Sandwich board sign for Moon & Earth Connections

This is one of our standard 600mm by 900mm metal A Frame signs, or some people refer to them as sandwich board signs. These are effective at catching passing by traffic. they can also be used for specials or in this case placed out on the foot path once or twice a week when Jane is at Laguz for the day. The signs says everything that Jane does, and we recreated the butterfly wing that Jane had on business cards into a file format that can be used anywhere and as large as she likes, in fact we could now even blow it up enough to wrap a vehicle with if necessary, or we could use it to produce business cards for her so that all her business branding is in line. this A Frame cost $250 including gst

The Importance of Quality Business Signs

Investing in quality business signs is important for business. It is often one of the first things a customer will see and can portray a lot about a business very quickly. Taking the time to ensure business signs are high quality, well maintained and do their job properly is vital.

High Quality Signs

This really goes without saying. If the signage in front of a business is cheap, unprofessional and unkempt, then the image is not good for the business. As signs are often exposed to the elements, they should be made of the best materials to ensure they stay in good condition and continue to do the job in all weather. This usually means investing in good quality materials and using professional signwriters.

It is important to think of signage as a marketing element for the business. Just like flyers, brochures, websites and business cards project an image about a business, so does signage. So it should be given the same amount of consideration and attention as any other marketing.

Setup a maintenance schedule to ensure that signage is in top condition and quickly undertake any necessary repairs. Often, there are local signwriters who will happily undertake a maintenance schedule for business at a nominated fee. This can be a great investment as it saves time while ensuring a top job is done in maintaining the signage. Also, repairs will be carried out quickly.

Doing Their Job

There are many different signs for a multitude of purposes. Signs designed to attract the attention of potential customers. Signs to highlight a business location. Signs to direct customers in a particular direction. Signs to impart information, pricing or promotions. The list is really endless.

Regardless of the type of sign is being used, they should all be of high quality and complementary to the business. If they aren’t, they simply will struggle to do their job. A poorly designed, inferior quality sign that has not been maintained or replaced when it should have been, is often worse than no sign at all.

Investing in quality signage and using it to complement business is an important marketing tool. Use business signs properly, keep them maintained and they will do the job required over and over again, which is simply good business.
